Healthy Rivers Australia is co-convening with the Water Trust Alliance and the Australian River Restoration Centre a one-day, by invitation workshop on the 1st of December 2011 to bring together people from non-government, government, and research organisations with an interest in exploring the role that water trusts can play in the future management of environmental water assets.
The specific objectives will be to:
1. Describe the water trust models that currently operate in Australia;
2. Identify the advantages and shortcomings of existing water trust models;
3. Understand the challenges, opportunities and capacities of water trusts; and
4. Discuss key features of future regional water trust models that connect government, community and business.
The output of the workshop will be proceedings that outline a roadmap for further expanding the role of water trusts in managing environmental water assets. For more information about the workshop contact Dr Mark Siebentritt 0418 603 015 or Dr Siwan Lovett 02 6247 7997.
