Open Tender for Wetland Managers

Healthy Rivers Australia has announced its first open tender for wetland managers who want to access water for their wetlands.

Murray wetland managers throughout South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria, whose wetlands have not filled from recent high river flows, may be eligible for a water donation from HRA’s Community Environmental Water Bank.

There is more than 1,000 ML of water that community and government wetland managers can apply for.

River communities, government and catchment agencies interested in a water delivery should submit proposals for their environmental projects by 12 noon on Friday, 26 November.
 
Proposals will be assessed against the following selection criteria and must not exceed 4 pages in length:
 
1. Meet HRA constitutional objectives *
2. Consistent with HRA Strategic Plan *
3. Not compromise existing HRA projects
4. HRA must have water available for the area in which the wetland is located
5. Proof of physical delivery capability and capacity *
6. Approval of relevant Environmental Manager (SA, Vic, NSW) *
7. Geographically disbursed (compared to other HRA projects) *
8. Maximize environmental benefit *
9. Maximize community involvement *
10. Monitoring plan in place and measurable targets for success *
11. Regular (i.e. quarterly) reporting to HRA *
12. Recognition of HRA as project supporter in all media and events *
13. Agree to HRA Donor Agreement *
14. Time since last flooded *
15. Majority HRA Committee support
