History
Healthy Rivers Australia Incorporated was started by volunteers who were concerned about the decline of Australia’s rivers and wetlands. The organisation was incorporated in South Australia in 2004 as Waterfind Environment Fund Incorporated. In December 2008, the membership voted to change the name to Healthy Rivers Australia Incorporated to better reflect its goals.
Healthy Rivers Australia received an Australian Government Water Smart grant in 2006 which provided vital funding for the development an innovative environmental water management system.
Our public fund, the Healthy Rivers Fund, received deductible gift recipient status from the Australian Government in 2007 – meaning every donation over $2 or more is tax deductible.
Our community environmental Water Bank was established in early 2008.
A major milestone, our first delivery of environmental water from the Water Bank was made to a drying wetland in June 2008.
